Things will always work out

Our house is due to be auctioned this week. Things aren't looking particularly promising. For some inexplicable reason the whole market in our area has suddenly quietened down. Typical. Just a month ago it was a hive of activity. I've met two other people selling at the moment who are experiencing the same thing.

Our agent, of course, just wants us to have a big SOLD sticker on the board out the front. While we only want to sell if we get the right price. We're not going to give up our first family home for a song, we're not desperate, it's just bad timing.

On one hand I'm a little stressed, on the other, well, something will work itself out. It always does, doesn't it? We will live somewhere, together.

I'm not the kind of person who has a plan and has to rigidly stick to it. In fact, I'm kind of the opposite. I like to play with the cards as they're dealt. I've never been the person who thought: "I'm going to work at this career, have this many children and live in this house". I'd prefer to see what happens and see how I feel, as I also tend to change my mind at the drop of the hat.

I'm not a driven person, I like the river of life to guide me. I like to enjoy to journey and not miss out on the small things going on around me. I'm certain I probably haven't hit the heights I could have, but I've never want to be the biggest or the best, it's just not me. Also, I haven't had to deal with failure when something that 'should've' happened hasn't. I think there's a quiet joy to mediocrity, a bliss that is underrated, a success that's often not acknowledged. I also like not knowing what's around the corner or what I'll be doing this time next year, it keeps life interesting. I can hear some people I know saying: "That's loser-talk" as I write this. Oh well.

Sometimes things will happen no matter how hard you try to not make them happen. Things will work out as they're meant to, as long as you keep waking up each morning, keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep listening to yourself and be true.

Are you someone who likes to plan your life? Or are you happy to go with the flow? Do you believe things will always work themselves out?

  1. I'm way too much of a planner - and you're right - it leads to disappoinments.
    I love your outlook.

  2. I want to go with the flow but sometimes I feel my life has to fit some unworkable plan. A plan that could blow up in my face but apparently needs to go ahead before other things can happen. It is extremely frustrating as I know what I'd prefer to be doing (I.e not planning, just f***ing going ahead with it, Consequences be damned!)

Well said and I feel that I am finally understanding this concept. We are bombarded with what success is and to pursue everything at any cost. But I like you tend to enjoy flowing with the river of life as you put it and it creates far less turbulant waters to swim through.

    great post.

  4. I was only thinking last night I feel as though I haven't achieved much in the last 8 or so years, but then I stopped and had a look around. I've achieved a lot, I've just paced myself, stopped along the way to enjoy the ride.

Yours is a great post and I'm pleased I've tuned into your blog! gxo

  5. I totally believe that things happen for a reason, but I also do not like to take no for an answer. I question things a lot, but do not sweat the stuff that is out of my control.

Good luck honey - and do not stress. It will all work out in the end xx

  6. Always flying by the seat of my pants.
Once I set my mind to it ~ there's no turning back.
My lack of planning and just doing is not for the faint hearted ~ I can exasperate the best of them!

That being said ~ everything does happen for a reason ~ and a few months from now you will be saying "no wonder!".

    xoxo

  7. I like to think I'm a planner, when really I'm very much a go with the flow kinda girl. Unfortunately, so much is beyond our control in this life. We can't be too rigid and need to be a little bit flexible, just so we don't snap every time we hit a big bump in the road.
I think you're definitely on the right track Corinne. What will be... will be. I like your approach to it all, it's not loser talk, it's just keeping it real. Best of luck with the auction results xo

  8. Hey I'm exactly like you! We live our lives one day at a time and whatever crops up we deal with it. At the moment we don't know where we will be this time next year, could be Singapore or could be here in Sydney. As long as the kids and me and the hubby are happy we will make our home wherever we may be!

My son's fav song at the minute is Bob Marley's 'Don't worry about a thing, coz every little thing is gonna be alright'! He has the right motto! Don't you think?

Love your blog by the way! And just voted for you on Kidspot!

    Good luck!
