Health, wealthy and wise? Hmmm I'm not so sure


I've never really been a night owl, always preferring my pillow to late night TV or net surfing. Don't get me wrong, when I'm out and about I can party with the best of them and I've seen the sun rise on too many occasions, but if I'm home I can't think of anything worse than being awake to the early hours.

Once kids arrived my bedtime got earlier, it wasn't uncommon that I'd fall asleep shortly after they did. Well, they did wake all through the night and were up at the crack o'dawn, you've got to sleep when you can.

These days they're sleeping better and yet I still go to sleep at the same time as an average primary schooler. I try to stay awake longer and after the kids go to bed I'm feeling wide awake. Then as soon as I switch on the telly or pick up a book I feel my lids go heavy and I'm off...... zzzzzzzzzz.

I wonder if I'll ever see double digits on the clock again?

Are you a night owl? Or do you prefer to be tucked up early?

  1. Bed for me! Although I do plan on hitting double digits tonight for Oprah. I would record it but we are not that technically minded in this household so it's a, relatively, late one for me. gxo

  2. I was ALWAYS early to bed, like i would go to bed straight after Bluey. Then i got pregnant with Greenie and i became a night owl out of no where and never went to bed before 1030. Most nights it was closer to 12. I was like that until recently and since we moved i have been feeling tireder earlier.

  3. I am in bed between 9 and 9:30 every.single.night.

    That said, I am up between 3 and 4 every single am.
    Every one else in this house is a night owl, so that is truly the only "me" time I get.
    Besides, with the time differences, I know I can always catch you on Twitter when I am up that early! ;)

  4. Definitely a night owl! I always was but when I was a single mum my bedtimes got later and later as I tried to squeeze in as much me time as I could.
    My motivation to get things done kicks in around 9pm! But my partner is in bed around 8.30 half the time so I'm trying to fit in a bit more sleep before midnight these days.

  5. Love my sleep Corinne. But I am in a rather dicey habit at the moment, of staying up late doing things. Some nights I fall asleep on the lounge for an hour or two... attempting to watch some Tv with hubby... and wake up revived, so I'm up for another 2 hours!
    REALLY bad habit :o/
    You're pregnant, you need to sleep as much as possible anyway xo

  7. I really NEED to go to bed early, but I can't make myself because after about 8pm is the only time I get uninterrupted. Then I struggle in the morning, because my 5-month old still wakes up anything from 2-5 times overnight! Yawn.

  8. I go through stages. At the moment, I am in my anti-night owl phase. For the past 2 nights, I have been asleep before 8am ... and I can feel myself getting sleeeeeepy!

  9. I go through this sleepy patch at about 5 or 6pm and then get more and more awake and spritely the later it gets. I really don't like going to bed, but really really don't like waking up. I am at my worst from 7am until probably 10am.

  10. Total night owl here- I love the peace and quiet after everyone is in bed. I feel like it is 'my' time & I prefer less sleep to giving it upQ!

  11. Given the social conventions of the day, Franklin wasn't especially bothered when women got to work. The typographic conventions of the day also involved the use of the long 's', which appears similar to a lowercase 'f'.campal carlmontpharmacy Present day transcriptions lead us to believe that getting a good night's sleep will make us 'healthy, wealthy and wife'. At least Franklin avoided 'where the bee sucks, there suck I'.
